St. Nicholas Church Plans German Nite

St. Nicholas Church, South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre will hold its 54th annual “German Nite,” one of the largest pre-Lenten German-American celebrations in Northeast Pennsylvania, on Saturday, March 2. Doors will open at 6 p.m. A German style buffet meal will be served from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. and beverages will be served throughout the evening. Music will be provided by “The Schutzengiggles Oompah Band,” a traditional seven piece German band, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person (advance tickets only - no tickets will be sold at the door) and may be obtained from any active Holy Name member, event committee member or by calling the rectory office at 570-823-7736. This is a non-smoking event. Tables can be reserved for groups of eight or more upon ticket payment at the rectory. Those interested in attending are urged to respond early since ticket sales are limited for this affair. Public is welcome. First row, from left, are Mike Ott, John Rose, Ed Staab, and Joe Stochla. Second row: Bill Langan, Bill Ott, Mike Mallis, and Ralph Gillespie. Also participating are Bud Holmgren, Larry Wesneski and Bob West.
