Richard Brown, 80, Portage

Richard D. Brown, 80, of Portage, passed away unexpectedly at his Tucson, Arizona, home on July 30, 2018.

Richard was born on May 23, 1938, to Clarence and Nora (Rierson) Brown in rural Blair. He was one of six children to grow up learning a strong work ethic on the family farm. He continued his passion for farming as an adult while working for GTE as an administrator over Business Systems of Wisconsin Customer Service. He enjoyed fixing anything that was in need of repair, hunting and fishing, and was a lifetime Packers fan. Richard was a member of the Rotary Club, the Elks Club and was on the EMS crew in his early years in Portage. After retirement, he married Jerilyn Olson. Each winter, they would travel to Arizona with their furry friend Ernie and enjoyed the sunshine, golfing and their many close friends.

Richard is survived by his sisters, Donna (Jerry) and Janice; his brother, Alden (Rebecca); his children, Scott, Lynn, Wanda, Kent (Jody) Brown, Ron (Christina) Dombrowski, Todd (Mark) Richards, Tricia (Doug) Campbell, Tim (Jamie) Brown and Tamara (Todd) Preuss; his stepchildren, Chris, Carrie, Colleen and John, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Maynard; and his sister, Doris.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage (www.pmmfh.com) from 4 to 6 p.m. A celebration of ;ife will be held at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Don Parker officiating. Inurnment will be private.

A special thank you to his sister, Donna, and her husband for taking good care of him during his final winter in Arizona.
