Milk in Japan Sickens 1,000
TOKYO (AP) _ Lowfat milk from Japan’s largest supplier of dairy products sickened more than 1,000 people in western Japan, and three were hospitalized, officials said Friday.
Authorities in the city of Osaka examined the milk, produced by Snow Brand Milk Products Co., but found no evidence of contamination, city official Kunihiko Matsumura said.
City and company officials were investigating, and the company recalled the milk.
A total 1,152 people in Osaka and five nearby prefectures complained of diarrhea, stomach pain and vomiting after drinking milk the came from Snow Brand Milk’s Osaka plant.
