Boys Lacrosse Brunswick beats Berkshire in season finale
Following a dramatic victory against Darien on Wednesday, the Brunswick School lacrosse team concluded another standout season Saturday by rolling past Berkshire School, 14-1.
With the win, the Bruins finished their season with a record of 16-2. Brunswick held a 6-0 lead on host Berkshire after the first quarter and never looked back. Junior midfielder Brody Firestein opened the scoring, tallying off a pass from junior midfielder Liam Fairback.
Sophomore attack Coulter Mackesy gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead, tallying in transition. Luke Waters, a sophomore, set Fairback up for a goal, then senior defender Ian Murray tallied off a feed from senior Michael Gottlieb, putting Brunswick on top, 4-0.
Fairback added another first-quarter tally, giving the Bruins a six-goal advantage. Gottlieb scored off a Fairback feed, then Firestein converted a shot, putting Berkshire in an 8-0 hole. Senior midfielder Cooper Moore, senior defender Charles Packard, senior midfielder Charles Shaffer, junior middie Koby Ginder, senior Whit Knight (midfielder) and senior Tim Saunders (midfielder) each added one goal apiece in the winning effort.
The convincing victory marked the final game for Brunswick’s 13 seniors, including captains Christian Barnard, Murray and Christian Ronda.
Fairback, Firestein, Michael Mauricio and Logan Darrin will serve as the Bruins’ captains next season.
