Inmate mistakenly released from prison sentenced to 10 years
A man mistakenly released from jail more than five years ago was ordered Friday to spend 10 years in prison on charges of aggravated battery and robbery.
Arnel O. Davis, 29, pleaded guilty to the charges in June. He was freed in 2013 “due to a clerical error,” according to court documents, and was arrested again in March.
Davis shot a man once in the stomach and twice in the back after an argument in September 2012, court documents allege. In a separate case, he robbed a pizza delivery driver in November 2012, the documents say.
Allen Superior Judge John Surbeck sentenced him to 10 years in prison on the battery charge and 10 years on the robbery charge. The sentences will run at the same time.
