Salisbury group collecting toys

December 2, 2018

The Salisbury-Elk Lick Education Association will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for families in need in the Meyersdale and Salisbury school districts on Thursday.

The group is hosting its third Cram-a-Van holiday toy drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Salisbury-Elk Lick High School parking lot.

School counselor and association Vice President James Henry said that toys will be distributed to approximately 120 families signed up through the Salisbury Family Center.

He said the deadline to sign up has passed, but families can sign up through the family center for next year.

Families can attend Santa’s Elks Workshop from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday inside the high school gym to take part in kids crafts and activities.

“We’ll have different crafts, ornament making, holiday stories, hot chocolate, cookies and kids activities,” Henry said.

The event is put on by teachers, students and other volunteers from the community.
