Woman dead, teen critical after van rear-ends tractor in NYC
NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a woman is dead and a 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after their van rear-ended a tractor in the Bronx.
The crash happened at 7 a.m. Saturday on the Major Deegan Expressway.
Police say 30-year-old Jennifer Parisella, of Middletown, New York, was driving a Ford Econoline van when it rear-ended a tractor. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s 14-year-old stepdaughter and 12-year-old stepson were riding in the back seat and were taken to hospitals. Police say the girl is in critical condition.
A 28-year-old man identified as the woman’s brother was treated for a leg injury. The tractor driver was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The New York Post reports that the family was bringing produce to a New York City farmer’s market.
There were no arrests.
