LIVE: Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tony George Addresses Recent Shootings

WILKES-BARRE — Mayor Tony George is having a news conference to address the recent spate of shootings in the city. At least five shootings were reported in the city since last Tuesday, including four that police say are linked to an ongoing feud between rival groups. The news conference will be held in the City Council Chambers in City Hall. Meanwhile, George has cancelled an event scheduled for tonight to officially announced his reelection campaign. The mayor’s campaign cited the bad weather for the cancelation. The shootings, dates and their locations are: — Tuesday, 8:45 p.m. Multiple shots fired into 42 Dagobert St. — Tuesday, 4:40 p.m. At least six shots fired at the intersection of Dana and High streets, including one that struck a sport utility vehicle. — Monday, 11:15 a.m. Multiple shots fired at 56-58 Lockhart St. — Saturday, 5:30 p.m. Man wounded in torso after at least three shots were fired near 253 Bowman St. — Feb. 12, 6:30 p.m. Two Scranton women shot inside a car on Sullivan Street, near Sambourne Street.
