STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) _ Katina Mack scored 14 points before leaving with a hip injury as No. 12 Penn State beat Michigan 83-63 Friday night.
The Lady Lions (18-5, 9-2 Big Ten) opened the second half with a 15-4 run to build a 22-point lead. Michigan (7-15, 1-11) got no closer than 18 the rest of the way.
Mack, averaging 12.4 points per game, left midway through the second half after aggravating a hip injury. She may not play against Northwestern Sunday.
Tiffany Longworth had 13 points, including four 3-pointers, and Tina Nicholson, Julie Jarosz and Stacey Brewer each had 10 for the Lions.
Michigan’s Pollyanna Johns had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Amy Johnson added 12, while Catherine DiGiacinto and Akisha Franklin each had 11 for the Wolverines.
Penn State outscored Michigan 17-10 in the last five minutes of the first half to take a 41-30 lead.
