Liberty Media Reviewing Objections
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) _ Liberty Media Corp. is reviewing the German government’s objections to its planned purchase of six regional cable television companies from Deutsche Telekom AG, Liberty officials said Wednesday.
Germany’s Cartel Authority has expressed doubts about the $4.9 billion deal, which would make Liberty the biggest player in the German cable market.
Liberty President and CEO Robert Bennett said in a written statement the company received the authority’s objections Wednesday and was considering whether it could satisfy them and still make the deal profitable.
Details of the Cartel Authority’s list were not released. Englewood-based Liberty said it would respond formally but set no date.
Liberty shares closed down 48 cents Wednesday at $13.09 on the New York Stock Exchange.
