WASHINGTON (AP) _ With President and Mrs. Clinton the happy buyers of a five-bedroom Dutch Colonial house in a wooded New York City suburb, you’d think the first family would be pleased to learn the dwelling’s seller is a political contributor.

The problem is he gave money to Republicans.

Dr. Jeffrey Weisberg, who with his wife Cheryl is selling the Clintons the $1.7 million home in Chappaqua, Westchester County, donated $3,500 to the New York Republican County Committee in 1996, according to the Federal Elections Commission.
