Springfield officer struck in head by BB
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Springfield police officer has been struck in the head by a projectile apparently fired from a pellet or BB gun.
Police say the officer was patrolling the city’s North End at about 10 p.m. Monday when somebody fired into the cruiser’s open passenger side window.
The pellet struck a closed window, bounced off, and struck the officer in the head.
The officer, whose name was not released, did not require medical attention.
There have been no arrests.
The shooting happened one day before the fourth anniversary of the death of Springfield Officer Kevin Ambrose, who was shot while responding to a domestic call.
