Kraynak’s Santa’s Christmasland is closer to Sewickley than the North Pole
Sure, Halloween is still weeks away, but the Christmas season is already in high gear at Kraynak’s in Mercer County.
The store in Hermitage, about an hour’s drive from the Sewickley Valley, opened its Santa’s Christmasland attraction on Sept. 10.
Christmasland, a traditional holiday destination for many Western Pennsylvanians for decades, features a 300-foot-long avenue of decorated trees and animated figures. The 65 themed tree displays include Welcome to Who-Ville, Yummy Gummy Gumdrop Factory, Christmas Concert and Kringle Ski Lodge.
Santa himself is also available for visits and there’s a 12,000-square-foot Toyland and a 30,000-square-foot gift shop with decorations for the home, church or business.
The family-owned store also features a floral boutique shop, greenhouse, model trains and accessories, and a candy shop.
Admission is free. Bus tours and groups are welcome. Large groups wishing to visit the store at 2525 East State St. are asked to call 724-347-4511 to make reservations.
