PARIS (AP) _ Bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones has filed suit against a French tabloid for publishing what he calls a ``fake'' interview that quotes him as blaming Dodi Fayed for the crash that killed Princess Diana.

His lawyer, Christian Curtil, has demanded $163,000 in damages. Rees-Jones was the sole survivor of the crash that killed the princess, Fayed and their driver last year.

The article appeared July 6 in Voici, a glossy photo magazine that concentrates mainly on the private lives of the rich and famous.

Earlier this month, Rees-Jones issued a statement angrily denying he gave the interview.

The magazine said it had no immediate comment.

A civil court is to hear the case July 23.
