OSAKA, Japan (AP) _ Two-time European champion Alina Kabaeva of Russia, already winner of the all-around individual championship, scored a perfect 10.0 Sunday in winning the ribbon event and added the ball title in the individual apparatus final at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.
The 10.0 was Kabaeva’s sixth at the championships. Kabaeva, 16, won more medals than any other gymnast during the six-day meet _ four golds and two silvers.
Olympic bronze medalist Elena Vitrichenko of Ukraine also won two events Sunday. Vitrichenko, the all-around champion in the previous championships at Berlin in 1997, captured the rope and the hoop _ each one with a perfect mark, outscoring Kabaeva.
In all, Russia won five golds. Ukraine had the two won by Vitrichenko, and Greece also won two in the team apparatus finals _ one for the ball, the other in the combination of hoops and ribbons.
The championships served as a qualifier for the 2000 Olympics.
