BOSTON (AP) _ Olaf Kolzig made 23 saves for his 18th career shutout, and Joe Reekie scored his first goal of the season in the Washington Capitals’ 2-0 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.

Washington, which won only second road game of the season, completed a home-and-home sweep of the Bruins, after beating them 3-2 on Friday night.

Kolzig is 5-0 in his last five starts and has a goals-against-average of 1.00 during that span for the Capitals, who have won three straight for the first time this season, and five of six overall.

Reekie gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead on a slap shot over the right shoulder of Peter Skudra at 3:51 of the third period.

Steve Konowalchuk made it 2-0 with a controversial goal at 4:14. Reekie’s pass deflected off Konowalchuk’s skate, which was clearly in the crease. The goal was allowed, however, after it was ruled the goal was not scored as a result of a distinct kicking motion.

Seven of Konowalchuk’s eight goals this season have come on the road.

Jason Allison had the best scoring chance for Boston with 17 seconds left in the second period, but Kolzig stopped his wrist shot from between the face off circles. Allison leads the Bruins with 30 points.

The only other road victory for Washington came on Nov. 4, when it beat the Florida Panthers.

Skudra made 26 saves for the Bruins, who are 1-4-2 in their last seven home games.
