July 1, 2019

LOGAN, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia firefighter driving an ATV collided head-on into a tractor-trailer and died from his injuries.

News outlets report 46-year-old Ernie Woods crashed Saturday.

Troopers say the ATV lost control and swerved into the opposite lane causing the collision.

Logan Fire Chief Scott Beckett told WCHS that Woods was a Logan firefighter for 10 year, a former Logan police officer and an Army veteran.

Woods was on vacation and was supposed to get married next week.
