AUBURN, Ala. (AP) _ Top-ranked amateur Alan Doyle made his professional debut Thursday, shooting an even-par 72 in the Hooters-Auburn Classic.

Doyle, 48, of LaGrange, Ga., is preparing for the 1996 Senior PGA Tour with a full schedule of Hooters-Jordan Tour, Nike Tour and PGA Tour events.

Greg Reid of Fayetteville, Ark., shot a 68 to take a one-stroke lead in the $100,000 tournament at Auburn Links Country Club.

KEDOINCHO, Japan (AP) _ Former Oklahoma player Todd Hamilton shot a 1-under-par 71 today for a share of the second-round lead in the Token Cup, the Japan PGA’s season-opening event.

Hamilton, who won two tournaments in Japan last year, had a 1-under 141 total on the Kedoin Golf Club course. Japan’s Seiji Ebihara shot a 67 and countryman Hideyuki Sato had a 71 to join Hamilton at 141.

SHINTOMICHO, Japan (AP) _ Japan’s Akiko Fukushima shot a 2-under-par 70 today in strong winds for a one-stroke lead over compatriot Yuka Irie after the first round of the Chiyoda Ladies tournament.

New Zealand’s Marnie McGuire, who won the Japan LPGA’s season-opening Daikin Orchid last week, opened with a 74 on the Miyazaki Zaronbai course.

NEW YORK (AP) _ For the sixth consecutive season, the NFL set a paid attendance record in 1994.

Paid attendance for all games in the league’s 75th anniversary season was 18,010,264, the first time the league topped 18 million for a season. The total was an increase of 58,433 from the previous record of 17,951,831 set in 1993.

Regular-season attendance was 14,030,435, an average of 62,363 per game. Exhibition games averaged 52,461 for 61 games, and 12 postseason games drew 779,738, including 74,107 for the Super Bowl at Miami.

The Kansas City Chiefs led the league in regular-season attendance with 626,612 for eight games.

SALEN, Sweden (AP) _ France’s Raphaelle Monod of France won the final moguls competition of the season in a World Cup freestyle meet Thursday to edge American Donna Weinbrecht by eight points for the overall title.

Monod, a silver medalist in last month’s World Championships, compiled 26.71 points. Weinbrecht, the 1992 Olympic champion and a three-time World Cup moguls titlist, finished fourth with 25.88 points.

Olivier Cotte of France won the men’s event with 26.82 points for his first World Cup victory of the season. Russia’s Sergei Shupletsov, who clinched the overall title last weekend, was second with 26.75 points.

WINDSOR, Ontario (AP) _ Jamie Storr, 1-3-1 with a 3.88 GAA in five games for the Los Angeles Kings this season, made 30 saves in the Windsor Spitfires’ 2-1 victory over Guelph in the Ontario Hockey League on Thursday night.

Storr, 19, was selected seventh overall in the 1994 draft.

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut’s Rebecca Lobo, a leading candidate for national Player of the Year, heads the GTE Academic All-America women’s basketball team announced Thursday.

Joining Lobo on the University Division first team were Amy Burnett of Wyoming, Dana Drew of Toledo, Christi Osborne of Virginia Tech and Jen Smith of Colgate.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) _ Defensive end Chadrick Brown, cut last year by Arizona coach Buddy Ryan for fraternizing with a Philadelphia player during a game, signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Thursday.

TOKYO (AP) _ Japan’s Hiroshi Kawashima will defend his WBC super-flyweight title against South Korea’s Seung-koo on May 24 in Yokohama, manager Kenji Yonekura said today.
