WWE stars to appear in Florence

August 11, 2018

FLORENCE, S.C. — Pee Dee wrestling fans will gather Sunday at the Florence Center for a chance to see some of their favorite WWE stars up close and personal.

WWE Live will come to Florence for the second time this year, this time for the “WWE Live SummerSlam Heatwave Tour.”

The show will begin at 7 p.m. The main event will be a triple-threat match between A.J. Styles, Rusev and Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship belt.

Other matches will include Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Jeff Hardy for the United States Championship, Gallows & Anderson vs. The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship and Asuka vs. Carmella for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Samoa Joe, also known as Nuufolau Joel Seanoa, said he has been to South Carolina several times and looks forward to visiting Florence.

“It’s going to be a great time,” Seanoa said. “Florence fans can expect a great match, and we’re really looking forward to coming and being back.”

Seanoa said the SummerSlam Heatwave Tour builds momentum toward WWE’s annual “SummerSlam” pay-per-view, which is set to take place on Aug. 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Seanoa is scheduled to take on Styles for the WWE Championship during that event.

“Both A.J. Styles and Rusev are tremendous competitors,” Seanoa said. “We’re really trying to give a little preview of what people can expect to see at SummerSlam. I enjoy working with both of these guys and look forward to facing A.J. again here in the next few weeks.”

Seanoa said he has enjoyed working with several wrestlers over the past few years, including Nakamura and Finn Balor, but also looks forward to creating some new rivalries in the near future.

“I show up to rumble, and people know what to expect when I’m in the arena,” Seanoa said. “People know what they’re going to get. We’re going to go out and have a good match, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Other WWE stars scheduled to appear include Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, the New Day, the Bar and more.

Tickets for the event range from $15 to $100 and can be purchased at FlorenceCenter.com. For more information, visit the Florence Center’s website or call the box office at 843-679-4525.
