The Canes need to match the desperation that the Islanders will bring to Game 4.

Coach Rod Brind’Amour doesn’t want to look at the big picture of a 3-0 lead.

“You’re always focused on the next game,” the rookie head coach said. “Whether you’re up three (games) or down three, you want to be desperate to win that game.”

This team was graveyard dead on the last day of December. But they finished the last 4 months of the regular season posting a record of 30-12-2. They have knocked out the defending champs and are a win away from taking the series against the second place team from their division.

Are they a team of destiny?

“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it’s a matter of choice,” Captain Justin Williams said after Game 3. “You don’t wait for it, you achieve it. We’re not waiting around to see what happens. We’re going to try and go get it.”
