BOSTON (AP) _ Jin Ho Cho, a 22-year-old Korean right-hander, was recalled from the minors this afternoon and promptly made his major league debut against the Chicago White Sox.
Cho became the first Korean pitch for Boston and the second in the majors. Chan Ho Park pitches for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Cho was a combined 6-1 with a 1.96 ERA at Class-A Sarasota and Trenton, a Class-AA team, this season. He pitched for the Korean National and Olympic teams.
The Red Sox sent reliever John Wasdin to AAA Pawtucket to make room for Cho. Wasdin was 4-3 with a 5.68 ERA in 28 games this season.
