DeKalb County accident sends one to hospital

July 4, 2018

A Tuesday night accident in DeKalb County sent a Fort Wayne woman to the hospital complaining of back pain.

Kristina Szobody, 50, was the back seat passenger in a vehicle driven by an unidentified 15-year-old male from Wichita, Kansas when the vehicle was traveling northbound in the 3600 block of State Road 327 and ran off the east side of the road, according to a news release from the county sheriff’s department.

The driver overcorrected and lost control shortly after 8 p.m. The vehicle, a 2016 Hyundai, then struck a 2006 Toyota Sienna driven by Troy Hypes of Waterloo that was stopped facing west, preparing to make a turn at County Road 36 onto State Road 327. Both vehicles came to rest at the northeast corner of the intersection.

Szobody was taken to DeKalb Hospital by ambulance.
