Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office announces name of new bloodhound puppy
The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media Saturday that their newest K-9 member has been named Penny.
Penny’s name was announced on 2 p.m. via a livestream on the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
Last week, officials posted photos of the new bloodhound puppy and invited people to suggest names through Facebook. More than 1,300 people commented to share their ideas.
Once Penny is trained, she will be used primarily for tracking, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials did not confirm how they picked Penny’s name.
