Judge finds brother, sister guilty of incest
MILWAUKEE (AP) _ A brother and sister who have had four children together and lost parental rights to all of them were found guilty of incest.
The 30-year-old woman, expecting another baby Oct. 31, and her brother, 45, were charged with the felony in February, two days after losing parental rights to their son.
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge David Hansher said Thursday the two will remain in jail until sentencing Nov. 11. They could get up to 10 years in prison.
Prosecutors called only one witness, a genetics expert who said there was a 99.99 percent probability that the man was the father of the baby born last year.
Defense lawyers argued that the sex was consentual and the state had no legitimate interest in a relationship between two adults. An appeal was planned, said attorney Neil C. McGinn.
The two earlier lost parental rights to two children in Wisconsin and one in Texas.
The woman was removed from her home by the state and adopted at age 7, court records show. Her biological family appeared at her home on her 18th birthday and she went to live with them.
