ATHENS, Greece (AP) _ Sixth-seeded Bruno Oresar of Yugoslavia came from behind to beat Marcelo Ingaramo of Argentina 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 Monday on the first day of the $123,400 Athens tennis tournament.
The 21-year-old Yugloslav, who interspersed blistering forehand shots with unforced errors and erratic play, needed over two hours to overcome his unseeded opponent, currently ranked 166th in the world.
In another match on the red clay center court of the Athens Tennis Club, Christer Allgardh of Sweden eliminated Juan Aguilera of Spain 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.
Markus Rackl of West Germany defeated Sweden’s Richard Bergh 6-2, 6-2 and Spain’s Juan Avendano upset Per Henricsson of Sweden 6-3, 6-7, 7-6.
