MUNICH, Germany (AP) _ Lothar Matthaeus played his 58th and final German Cup game before joining the New York/New Jersey MetroStars as Bayern Munich beat Hansa Rostock 3-2 Wednesday night to advance to the final.

Matthaeus, the former captain of Germany's national team, is scheduled to join the MetroStars next month. Bayern will be without him when it plays Bremen in the final on May 6. Bremen beat Bayern on penalty kicks in last year's final.

Roque Santa Cruz, an 18-year-old Paraguayan forward, scored in the 58th and 66th minutes for Bayern, and Sammy Kuffour added a goal in the 76th. Rostock got goals from Hilmar Weilandt in the 75th and Peter Wibran in the 82nd.
