ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Texas outfielder Gabe Kapler was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of tendinitis in his left wrist, and the Rangers recalled right-hander Joaquin Benoit from Triple-A Oklahoma to start the opener of a doubleheader against Anaheim on Monday.

Kapler, who is hitting .263 with 14 RBIs in 59 games, had been bothered by the wrist for several days. An MRI exam on Monday morning revealed an inflamed tendon. He won't swing a bat again this week.

Benoit made his only other start for the Rangers on May 9 against the Chicago White Sox and allowed just one run on four hits in six innings. He also made one relief appearance.

In 12 starts at Oklahoma, Benoit was 6-3 with a 3.36 ERA.
