Woman walking on Boston sidewalk struck by metal debris
BOSTON (AP) — Police say a woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after getting struck by metal debris while walking on a Boston sidewalk.
Police say the woman in her 30s was struck at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the city’s North End.
Officials say she appears to have been struck by a piece of metal railing knocked from the roof of a five-story building that was being worked on by workers using a crane.
Good Samaritans helped the woman before emergency responders arrived at the scene. A nearby gym provided towels.
Dion Irish, head of the city’s inspectional services department, said the building is a condominium complex with businesses on the first floor and had received a permit for roofing work.
No name was released.
The incident remains under investigation.
