Huber Wins Polish Open
SOPOT, Poland (AP) _ Anke Huber of Germany came back from an early deficit to defeat Gala Leon Garcia of Spain 7-6 (4), 6-3 Sunday in the final of the $180,000 Prokom Polish Open.
Leon Garcia raced out to a 5-2 lead in the first set, but then wasted a set point by sending a passing shot attempt into the net. The Spaniard never recovered from that wasted opportunity.
After taking the first-set tiebreaker and going to 3-3 in the second, Huber reeled off the final three games of the match to take the $27,000 first prize.
In the doubles final, Virginia Ruano-Pascual of Spain and Paola Suarez of Argentina beat Asa Carlsson of Sweden and Rita Grande of Italy 7-5, 6-1.
