Two Suspects in Westminster Hotel Valet Key Theft Arrested in Longmont After Attempted Burglary
Longmont police arrested two men suspected of stealing several valet keys from a Westminster hotel on Friday, after a neighbor said he saw them attempting to break into a Longmont home.
William Edward White, 28, and Joseph Tylar Turner, 24, are both charged with second-degree burglary and theft. White also is charged with drug possession.
According to an arrest affidavit, a neighbor called police at around 8:30 a.m. Friday to report two men who drove a Jeep to the area were entering his neighbor’s garage.
Longmont police responded to the home and, when the suspects ran out of the house, told them to get on the ground. Both eventually complied and were arrested.
Police found several keys on Turner, as well as a sock containing drugs.
The owner of the Jeep told police her vehicle was stolen from the Westin Hotel in Westminster earlier that day. Several keys had been taken from the valet parking board at the hotel and the vehicles were stolen, according to the affidavit.
Both Turner and White are scheduled to be formally charged Wednesday in Boulder County Jail.
White and Turner also are being charged by Westminster police for theft between $100,000 and $1 million, according to Colorado courts records. Turner also has an open case out of Jefferson County for motor vehicle theft.
White has previously been convicted of criminal impersonation and possession of a controlled substance, among other things. Turner has previously been convicted of possession of a controlled substance, theft and identity theft.
