Leipheimer Wins Tour of Germany
BONN, Germany (AP) _ Levi Leipheimer of the United States won the Tour of Germany on Tuesday, beating 1997 Tour de France champion Jan Ullrich by 31 seconds.
Leipheimer, who finished sixth at this year’s Tour de France, had held the leader’s yellow jersey since Thursday. He finished the 945.5-mile race in 37 hours, 24 minutes and 35 seconds.
Austria’s Georg Totschnig was third, 1 minute, 23 seconds behind Leipheimer.
The final stage was won by Daniele Bennati of Italy, who covered the 104.4 miles from Bad Kreuznach to Bonn in 3 hours, 53.07 seconds for his third victory in the race’s nine stages.
