ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Chris Pronger broke a scoreless tie with 2:23 remaining and Grant Fuhr made 23 saves as the St. Louis Blues continued their home-ice domination with a 2-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

Pronger’s goal came on a slap shot from just inside the blue line that beat Sharks goaltender Kelly Hrudey, who appeared to be screened.

Before Pronger’s second goal of the season, the teams appeared headed for a rare scoreless tie. Blair Atcheynuam scored an empty-net goal with 30 seconds remaining to make the score 2-0.

The Blues extended their undefeated streak at home to nine games (8-0-1). They haven’t lost since an opening-day defeat by Buffalo. At the same time, they continued their mastery over San Jose (20-4-0).

The Blues are 8-1-2 in their last 11 games. The Sharks are 3-8-0 in their last 11.

The shutout was the second of the season for Fuhr and the 22nd of his career.

The third-period scoring came after neither team mounted a serious offensive threat during the first two periods.

The Blues had a five-minute power play early in the first period when Marcus Ragnarsson was called for spearing, but managed only three shots.
