U.S. Grand Prix Planned for Indy
PARIS (AP) _ Motor racing’s world governing body made it official Thursday _ Formula One will return to the United States with a race next Sept. 24 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The U.S. Grand Prix, the first F1 event in the U.S. since 1991, was on the race schedule released by FIA’s World Motor Sports Council.
The 2000 F1 season will open with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 12, followed by the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo on March 26.
Also confirmed were: Monaco, June 4;, Canada, June 18; Germany, July 30; Hungary, Aug. 13; Belgium, Aug. 27; Italy, Sept. 10; Japan, Oct. 8; and Malaysia, Oct. 22.
Dates for the Austrian, British, European, French, San Marino and Spanish races will be announced within the next three weeks.
