Penguins Demote Milan Kraft
PITTSBURGH (AP) _ The Pittsburgh Penguins demoted disappointing center Milan Kraft to their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farm team and called up the minor league team’s top scorer, Tom Kostopoulos.
Kraft has played in 36 games this season. The Penguins’ first-round draft pick in 1998 has not contributed as much offensively as the team hoped. The 6-foot-3, 211-pound Kraft has five goals and two assists this year.
Kraft split time last season, playing 42 games for the Penguins with seven goals and seven assists. He had 21 goals and 23 assists in 40 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Kostopoulos has 15 goals and 11 assists in 35 games with the Penguins’ American Hockey League affiliate this season.
Kostopoulos has played in 191 consecutive games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton since Pittsburgh drafted him in the seventh round in 1999. The 6-foot, 200-pound Kostopoulos has 57 goals, 79 assists and 293 penalty minutes with the farm team.
