Puerto Rico drug suspect extradited from Europe
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Authorities in the Netherlands have extradited a Puerto Rico man accused of being part of an international drug ring they say trafficked up to 20,000 Ecstasy pills.
The U.S. Marshals Service said in a statement Thursday that Julio Rosario Laccen is in the U.S. territory awaiting a hearing.
A federal grand jury indicted him in June 2012 on charges of conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute Ecstasy.
Officials said Rosario was part of a ring that ran a clandestine laboratory and supplied buyers in western Europe.
