Stamford woman accused of stabbing estranged husband with fork
STAMFORD — A city woman has been accused of stabbing her estranged husband in the face with a fork.
Sgt. Simon Blanc said Verdette Fritz, 32, called police to report she was being assaulted in her Stephen Street home on Tuesday morning.
When police arrived, Blanc said Fritz was visibly shaken and directed officers to her husband, who was in a car outside.
The man said Fritz called him that morning to babysit their kids. Blanc said the man told officers the children were in school when he arrived and Fritz began arguing with him. Blanc said the man told officers Fritz picked up a fork during the heated exchange and stabbed him in the cheek.
The man said Fritz threatened to call the police and claim he assaulted her, and that she defended herself by stabbing him with the fork, Blanc said.
Fritz was charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and was released after posting a court appearance bond.
