Akmal fractures finger, ruled out of test series
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Pakistan wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal has been ruled out of the remainder of the test series against Sri Lanka after fracturing his index finger.
Akmal was injured when he caught Sri Lanka opening batsman Kaushal Silva’s shot in the last over of the third day of the first test on Thursday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement Friday that Sarfraz Ahmed will be flown in for the remaining two matches in the series.
Ahmed played in last year’s three-test series in South Africa before Akmal regained his place in the national team.
Younis Khan replaced Akmal behind the wickets when Sri Lanka resumed their second innings on Friday at overnight 186-4.
