OGDEN, Utah (AP) _ Sacramento State football coach John Volek was suspended for one game Tuesday by The Big Sky Conference for public comments he made about game officials.

Volek will miss Saturday’s game at Montana. His suspension stemmed from comments following a 31-30 loss to Montana State, and for entering the officials’ locker room after that game Saturday.

On MSU’s final drive, Montana State quarterback Travis Lulay appeared to receive the snap after time expired, but officials let the play continue. Lulay’s desperation pass as he was being tackled was caught by Scott Turnquist, who was tackled at the 34-yard line.

Again, the game appeared to be over _ but officials called a face mask penalty on Hornets linebacker Ryan Kroeker, moving Montana State to the 19.

Because the game could not end on a defensive penalty, the Bobcats had one more play. Nate Cook kicked a 36-yard field goal to win it.
