Police investigating fatal street shooting on Cleveland’s east side

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland police’s homicide unit is investigating a Friday afternoon shooting that left one dead in the city’s Union-Miles Park neighborhood.

Officers responded at about 4 p.m. Friday about a man shot in the street at East 98th Street and Gibson Avenue, Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.

The victim of multiple gunshot wounds was found on East 98th Street north of Gibson, near the entrance to Carol McClendon Park. 

Officers gave the man first aid until an ambulance arrived to take him to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead. 

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene, Ciaccia said, but have not released the man’s identity.

No arrests have been made.
