NWS confirms EF-1 tornado in Warsaw
The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Warsaw around 8:27 p.m. Monday.
The tornado landed 1.1 miles northeast of downtown Warsaw, just southeast of Pike Lake, traveled 4.1 miles and lifted around 8:34 p.m., about 5.2 miles east of downtown Warsaw, the weather service said.
At its peak, the tornado had estimated winds of 90 mph.
Numerous trees were uprooted or snapped, causing damage to several homes and cars because of flying debris, the weather service said.
Several power poles also snapped. Some homes also had minor roofing and siding damage, the weather service said.
The weather service is still assessing the damage.
