Buccaneers Re-Sign CB Brian Kelly
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finalized agreements with a pair of free agents Tuesday, re-signing cornerback Brian Kelly and signing tight end Marco Battaglia.
Kelly agreed to a six-year contract worth more than $12 million, and Battaglia agreed to a three-year, $3 million deal.
Kelly, a second-round draft pick in 1998, took over the starting left cornerback job five games into last season. He has appeared in 64 games with 20 starts in four years. He finished with 54 tackles and no interceptions. He has three career interceptions.
Battaglia played in 11 games with the Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Redskins last season, catching 14 passes for 127 yards and no touchdowns.
The seventh-year pro spent most of his first six seasons with the Bengals before being waived by Cincinnati on Dec. 10. He was claimed by Washington the next day and spent the rest of the season with the Redskins.
Battaglia has played in 91 games with 11 starts. He has 71 career receptions for 660 yards and two touchdowns.
