ST. CLOUD, Minn. — An ill-fated wind turbine at the Veterans Affairs hospital in St. Cloud will be taken down next year. The $300,000 turbine funded by federal stimulus money to reduce the VA’s energy consumption hasn’t produced any electricity for six years. WAUSAU, Wis. — Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources is investigating air pollution at a 3M Corp. factory in Wausau. Records show a pollution control device at the plant didn’t operate for several hours on April 13, and that the Minnesota-based company didn’t properly report some emissions in 2016 and 2017. Company and state officials say the incidents have been addressed. 3M also faced scrutiny at its Wausau sites two years ago. SENT: 130 words. UPCOMING: 300 words.

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have released kicker Kai Forbath, completing their plan to turn over the job to rookie Daniel Carlson. Forbath was let go after one of his two field goal attempts in Minnesota’s last exhibition game missed by hitting an upright. Since the Vikings drafted Carlson in the fifth round out of Auburn, Forbath’s time with the team was bound to be limited. The WNBA playoffs are set as a wild, unpredictable regular season came to an end Sunday. As expected Los Angeles and Minnesota will meet in the postseason for a third straight year.
