Free lecture on Colorado River set for Tonight at Asu Havasu
An interesting way to ease into Wednesday evening is to attend a free lecture at ASU Havasu. The topic touches every Lake Havasu City resident’s life – the Colorado River.
Presented by Dave Gunderson, the presentation is entitled “The Colorado River – Our Heritage and Future.” The hour-long discussion is in Santiago 109. Refreshments are served at 4:45 p.m. The lecture is at 5 p.m.
One of the greatest assets in the Southwest is the Colorado River. Without it, life in Arizona, California and Nevada would not exist as we know it. The river’s history, infrastructure development, politics and future will be covered.
Gunderson worked on the Colorado River for 25 years. He worked in operations, maintenance and engineering for Hoover Dam. In his last 13 years, he worked in the support of river operations in Boulder City. Gunderson’s focus was to build and support the data collection system used to measure and manage the river and the distribution of the water. He spent considerable time in the field, from farmer’s fields to mountain top communication sites. He is retired after 41 years of federal service.
The lecture will be followed by a five-minute question-and-answer session.
