Rookies have big day in Mad Ants’ victory
For the second time in his brief Mad Ants career, Alize Johnson went over the 20-rebound mark. But again he fell just short of matching Rob Kurz’s franchise record for boards.
But the even bigger standout of today may have been rookie Rob Gray, who made 8 of 18 shots for a team-best 21 points in the Mad Ants’ 105-100 victory over the Windy City Bulls in front of 915 fans at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Gray’s floating shot with 30 seconds remaining put the Mad Ants up for good at 100-98 in a game that saw 21 lead changes.

The Mad Ants were without Edmond Sumner and Ike Anigbogu, both up with the parent Indiana Pacers.
Stephan Hicks had 19 points and eight rebounds. Omari Johnson and Davon Reed had 17 points apiece, with Reed accruing 10 rebounds for the Mad Ants (4-3).
Johnson, a rookie second-round draft pick of the Pacers, had 14 points and 21 rebounds, three shy of Kurz’s franchise record set in 2010. Johnson totaled 20 rebounds Nov. 10 at Memorial Coliseum in a 133-105 victory over the Maine Red Claws.
Fort Wayne totaled 51 rebounds, 16 more than Windy City (4-7).
Rawle Alkins had 18 points to lead the Bulls. C.J. Fair, a former Mad Ants player, totaled 16 points. V.J. Beachem, a former New Haven and Notre Dame player, had 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting.
Fort Wayne’s Tra-Deon Hollins had six points, nine assists and four steals.
The Mad Ants play host to Raptors 905 at the Coliseum at 7 p.m. Thursday.
