Transient arrested after 11 small fires in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a transient was arrested on suspicion of arson after 11 small fires were set in San Bernardino.
The San Bernardino Sun reports the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says a man was arrested Monday after fires broke out near the 15 Freeway and 215 Freeway interchange.
Details of the arrest were not immediately available.
The fires prompted officials to stage fire engines at the Glen Helen Amphitheater in Devore.
Officials say the first fire was reported about 6 a.m. by several motorists on the 215, near the 15 interchange.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter also spotted the fires.
Officials say the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the U.S. Forest Service and county crews worked to contain the fires with help from area fire departments.
