SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A University of Utah student killed in a carjacking attempt near campus has been remembered by family and friends at a funeral.

A Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spokesman said private services for 23-year-old ChenWei Guo were held at the church's Institute of Religion on Monday.

Guo was a computer-science student from China who dreamed of owning his own consulting company.

He has been remembered as devout member of the Mormon church who loved to dance.

Police say Guo was at a canyon near campus with a friend Oct. 30 when he was fatally shot by 24-year-old Austin Boutain, an ex-con living with his wife at a makeshift camp nearby.

Authorities say the Boutains were on the run after killing and robbing 63-year-old Mitchell Ingle of Golden, Colorado.
