Bruin scores, Dynamo beat Union 2-0
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston’s Will Bruin scored early in the second half and a late own goal completed a 2-0 home win for the Dynamo over Philadelphia on Friday, harming the Union’s playoff hopes.
Bruin scored off Giles Barnes’ cross in the 51st minute. Philadelphia goalkeeper Andre Blake — making his MLS debut — guarded the near post, leaving an open net for Bruin.
Philadelphia’s best equalizing chance came when Fred slipped a ball inside to Andrew Wenger, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Tally Hall. Houston’s ensuing counter-attack forced Blake to make two diving saves against Bruin.
Omar Cummings’ cross deflected off Philadelphia defender Raymon Gaddis and rolled into the net in the 90th minute, handing the Union its first loss in six games.
