Ex-Doobie Brothers Can’t Use Name
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ A federal judge has barred three former members of the Doobie Brothers from using the rock band’s name.
An injunction issued Aug. 25 in U.S. District Court prohibits Dave Shogren, Chet McCracken, Cornelius Bumpus and their promoters from referring to their act as ``Original Doobie Brothers,″ ``Doobie Brothers,″ ``Doobies″ or anything similar.
``Our mandate from the band is to stop this kind of activity for good, and to make sure that fans know what’s going on here,″ said David Given, San Francisco attorney for the rock band.
The original Doobie Brothers band, with 13 gold records to its credit, has been performing and recording music since 1970.
