Coker College ranked No. 5 among top colleges in South
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – For the 23rd consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has named Coker College as one of America’s Best Colleges in its 2019 rankings, which were released Monday.
Coker ranks No. 5 in the best regional colleges in the South category and is the only college in South Carolina to be ranked in the top five.
Seven other schools from South Carolina are ranked: No. 8 USC-Aiken, No. 10 USC-Upstate, No. 12 Newberry College, No. 21 Lander University, No. 45 Limestone College, No. 49 USC-Beaufort and Morris College, which is tied with a large group at No. 65.
Coker is recognized by its peers in two separate 2019 U.S. News & World Report rankings as having “a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching” and for being a “most innovative school.” Coker was ranked No. 3 and No. 5, respectively, in those categories among regional colleges in the South.
“Being included in U.S. News & World Report’s rankings for best regional colleges in the South is always an honor,” said Coker College President Robert Wyatt. “This year, I am especially pleased to see Coker recognized for our strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and spirit of innovation. We’ve made a dedicated commitment to student success with programs such as our common experience trip to Washington, D.C., for all first-year students and AccessCoker, which gives students access to a brand new iPad and Apple Pencil so they can easily access learning materials and prepare for 21st-century careers.”
