SIOUX FALLS, S.D. _ South Dakota is becoming an island in a country with widespread legalized industrial hemp, after Gov. Kristi Noem vetoed a bill to legalize the crop. Surrounding states including North Dakota and Minnesota have already begun experimenting with hemp and have seen indirect benefits from sales tax and farmers having more money to pump into the economy.
